CASTEL GO GREEN: PRODUCT GROUP DESIGNED FOR CO2 APPLICATIONS

Environmental concerns regarding potential direct emissions from cooling systems based on synthetic liquids and EU legislation are driving the market towards higher efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
As a green alternative, a possible solution to this demand can be obtained with Carbon Dioxide (CO2; R744) due to its good thermodynamic performance, non-flammable and non-toxic properties.
From an environmental perspective, CO2 is very attractive because it has a GWP of 1 and an ODP of zero, becoming an increasingly popular refrigerant and seeing its use in an increasing number of installations.
High operating pressures are required for effective CO2 performance.
For example, during system shutdown, the ambient temperature may reach and exceed the critical temperature, so the pressure may exceed the critical pressure.
Certain characteristics of CO2 require technical changes in the design of the cooling system.
Castel offers a complete range of products, called the GO GREEN series, which are specifically designed, tested and manufactured to match the characteristics and refrigerant operating pressures of CO2 systems.
Environment, efficiency and cost reduction focuses on research for different application solutions, unlike many other refrigerants.
In practice, the CO2 on the market is applied in the following refrigerant cycles:
• Subcritical (cascade systems).
• Transcritical (CO2 systems only).
• Secondary fluid (CO2 is used as heat transfer fluid).
The technology applied depends on the application and location of the installation.
CO2 insulation is widely used today in the following areas:
- Industrial cooling
- Food and retail refrigeration
- Industrial and commercial air conditioning plants
- Heat pumps
- Transport cooling
GO GREEN Castel products are designed for installation in refrigeration systems using the best technology refrigerant R744 to achieve maximum pressure in the appropriate technology.
PS = 60 bar copper connections equipped for subcritical systems.
PS = 80 bar copper connections are equipped for transcritical systems low pressure and medium pressure side.
PS = 130 bar reinforced copper connections (K65), equipped for transcritical systems high pressure side.
PS = 140 bar stainless steel connections are equipped for the high pressure side for transcritical systems.
